Dambulla are a UNESCO recognized heritage site and a major tourist
attraction. The city of Dambulla is 148 km north-east of Colombo,
in the Central Province of Sri Lanka. It is home to an ancient
cave Temple also known as the Golden Rock Temple, which is a
popular tourist attraction. Approximately 25kms from Dambulla is
Sigiriya, which is where you will find the “Lion’s Rock”. This is
a 220 metre high rock, at the top of which an ancient King built
his Palace. In addition to being a well maintained model of
ancient urban life, Sigiriya is also an adventure of rock climbing
for many. A day tour of Sigiriya and Dambulla will suffice for you
to explore Sri Lanka’s Majestic past.

The ancient kingdom of Kandy is home to the Temple of the Tooth
Relic of Lord Buddha as well as Edwardian buildings, a king-made
lake, a nature reserve and exciting shops. As the second largest
city of the island and the capital of the Central Province, Kandy
has grown from being a medieval kingdom to a friendly, busy city
set in forested hills and surrounded by tea plantations and close
to the Royal Botanical Gardens at Peradeniya. As well as the
Temple of the Tooth, there are many Buddhist monasteries and Hindu
places of worship to visit, and cultural dance performances to
watch.

Nuwara Eliya - "City of Light" or "Little England ", is a town in
the central highlands of Sri Lanka with a picturesque landscape
and temperate climate. The town is overlooked by Pidurutalagala,
the tallest mountain in Sri Lanka. It is the heart of Sri Lankan
tea country interspersed with gushing streams and tumbling
waterfalls. Such an inspiring journey as Kandy - Nuwara Eliya Road
of Sri Lanka Holidays builds up your expectations of Nuwara Eliya,
the city with the highest altitude in the beautiful tropical
island. The town's attractions include the golf course, trout
streams, Victoria Park, and boating or fishing on Lake Gregory.

Today morning we will visit to everyone’s favourite hill-country
village, and the place to ease off the travel accelerator with a
few leisurely days resting in your choice of some of the country’s
best guesthouses. The views through Ella Gap are stunning, and on
a clear night you can even spy the subtle glow of the Great Basses
lighthouse on Sri Lanka’s south coast. Don’t be too laid-back
though; definitely make time for easygoing walks through tea
plantations to temples, waterfalls and viewpoints. After building
up a hiking-inspired appetite, look forward to Sri Lanka’s best
home-cooked food and a reviving cuppa.

Tissa (Tissamaharama), eyes are automatically drawn upwards and
outwards. Upwards to the tip of its huge, snowy-white dagoba and
outwards, beyond the town’s confines, to nearby wildlife reserves
crawling with creatures large and small. With its pretty lakeside
location, Tissa is an ideal mellow base for the nearby Yala and
Bundala National Parks.

Mirissa is one of the main beach destinations in southern Sri
Lanka. The area has it all, beautiful beaches, surf waves, whale
watching and great bars and restaurants. Mirissa is developing
quickly over the last couple of years so it’s also getting more
crowded. There are still enough spots where you can enjoy a fresh
coconut from your hammock seeing the sunset.

Galle is an exquisite city filled with colonial Dutch and
Portuguese history and architecture and once a major port. The
imposing Fort is a tourist's treasure; it houses the national
Maritime Museum, the National museum and the more recent (1938)
lighthouse. The Fort overlooks the sparkling turquoise waters of
the Indian Ocean and it is easy to get lost in its atmosphere,
rich with memories of a bygone era. Galle, famous for its lace, is
filled with priceless crafts and antique treasures like jewellery,
ceramics, and Dutch period furniture and brass work. The little
city of Galle is a fascinating stop, not just for historians, but
for anyone interested in learning more about Sri Lanka's
historical experience.
Galle is also a good centre for visits to Unawatuna beach.
